Until then.....................................

Southside Steaks

Beer Rating = 3
Food Rating = 5

We ended our night at Southside Steaks for our last beer and some good food.  This is our go-to place for some kick ass food before we hit those brutal Southside Slopes Steps.

Drink Specials/Prices - $2.50 for domestic bottles.
Bar Service - Not too long of a wait but you have to get your beer where you order the food. They need to have another register open just for ordering beer.
Cleanliness - The place is fairly clean early in the evening but it gets trashed quick and the bathrooms arent very clean at all but you do what you have to do.
Crowd - All ages.
Food - The chicken bacon ranch hoagie is one of the best hoagies I have ever had. The bacon cheddar fries are very good too. They have lots of other types of hoagies as well as salads and appetizers.

McArdles Pub

Beer Rating = 3

This bar is located off the beaten path so if you werent looking for it you might never find it. It is located on 1600 Bingham Street and its one of the few bars that has its own small parking lot for its customers. This place is an older dive bar but they have recently replaced the old bar stools and added a few really nice HD TV's. We were the only ones in the bar for a bit and then it started to get crowded but we had fun playing the mega touch.

Drink Specials/Prices - Domestic bottles and drafts are $2.50 and that is just fine with me!
Bar Service - Very quick and the bartender was very nice and friendly.
Cleanliness - Not too bad for an older bar. The bathrooms were ok but who knows what they would be like around midnight!
Crowd - Mix of 20's and 30's.
Food - They dont serve food.

The Rowdy Buck

Beer Rating = 2

So the Rowdy Buck opened a few weeks ago so we just had to check out the place. They are located on 1325 East Carson Street next to the Beehive. This place reminds me of an old log cabin and all they need is a mechanical horse and they will be set! I really liked the design because its a different type of bar than you are used to seeing in the Southside.

Drink Specials/Prices - $4.50 for domestic bottles which in my opinion is way too much to pay for a Bud or Miller Lite. This is the Southside of Pittsburgh not New York City. We probably wont go here very often at all due to the high prices.
Bar Service - I had to wait a few minutes for a beer so it was pretty good.
Cleanliness - This place still has that new wood smell so it was very clean and the bathrooms were very nice and modern.
Crowd - Mix of 20's and 30's.
Food - I heard the guy at the door say that they dont have food just yet but they will in the future.

Tad's

Beer Rating = 3

Tad's bar is located on 1109 E Carson Street formerly which is know as Joyce's Celtic Pub as well as Barry's. The layout is the same as the previous bars where you walk in and there are a few tables in the front and a long bar on each side. There are more tables in the back as well as a pool table. They have a lot of nice TV's in here to watch a Pens or Steeler game. This is an old man's bar until about 9 when the specials start and then its a college bar.

Drink Specials/Prices - $2.50 for domestic bottles.
Bar Service - Fast service and the bartender is always very nice and polite. The name of the bar changes more than the bartenders do here which is something I find very comforting.
Cleanliness - The place is clean as well as the bathrooms but I miss the smell of Cinnamon!
Crowd - Older crowd during the day and mostly 20 somethings at night.
Food - They have a standard food menu but everything I have ever had was very good.

Bar 1311

Beer Rating = 3

The bar at 1311 East Carson Street is a pretty nice place. When you walk in there is a long bar to the left and at least 5-6 high tables to the right. It is pretty narrow but it wasnt packed so we had no problem finding a table and enjoying watching the basketball game on one of the many TV's. They also have a big screen in the back which is nice for watching the Pens or Steelers.

Drink Specials/Prices - $3.50 for domestic bottles.
Bar Service - It wasnt the fastest but overall I didnt have to wait more than a few minutes for my drinks.
Cleanliness - Overall this place is pretty clean and the bathrooms werent too bad but then again it was only 8:30 on a Saturday night.
Crowd - Interesting mix of ages from 20's to mid 40's and early 50's.
Food - We didnt try anything from the menu but they do have some appetizers and a few sandwiches if you get really hungry.

Onyx Inn

Beer Rating = 4

Jason & I have walked past this bar numerous times and have wondered if it was open so tonight when we saw the beer sign on we decided to give it a try. They are located on 1011 East Carson Street in the Southside Flats. When you first walk in you feel like you are back in time with the wood paneling and orange and black bar but there is something about this place that instantly makes you like its old charm. There is only 1 TV in this place and it was playing Star Wars but you definitley dont go to this bar to watch tv.

Drink Specials/Prices - All domestic cans are $1.50 and that has to be the cheapest beer I have ever bought in the Southside.
Bar Service - The bartender was so nice and chatty and we got great service. She made us feel right at home!
Cleanliness - The place is old but it was very clean and well kept.
Crowd - We were the only ones in the place for a bit but I would say 30's and 40's.
Food - They dont serve food.

Patio 10

Beer Rating = 4
The first bar we hit was Patio 10 in the Holiday Inn Express which is located on 20 South 10th Street in the Southside Flats. This is a great little bar to start off your night in the Southside. They have plenty of nice TV's as well as a big screen for the Pen's games. Outside on the Patio they have 2 games of Cornhole setup to play.

Drink Specials/Prices - $3.00 domestics and $5.00 Yuengling Pitchers were on special tonight.
Bar Service - There was only one bartender for the entire bar but the service was fast and we got another round of beers before we even had to ask.
Cleanliness - The place was very clean and the bathrooms were newly renovated and very clean as well.
Crowd- A mix of 20's, 30's and 40's.
Food - We had the chicken tenders as well as cheese sticks and they were delicious. We ate here before and had the Turkey Club and it was very excellent as well. The menu is mostly standard pub fare but overall it was pretty good.
